One of the largest indoor miniature-theme-park museums in the world, in Ariake on Tokyo Bay. Vast, intricately detailed dioramas — a global-village airport, a space centre with a launching rocket, and licensed Evangelion and Sailor Moon zones — run on day/night lighting cycles with hundreds of tiny moving figures. You can even have a 1/80 scale figure of yourself made to place in the display.
Why children love it: The scenes are alive — trains run, a rocket lifts off, lights switch from day to night — and everything is at child eye-level to pore over.
Honest drawbacks: It is all about looking rather than doing; very young toddlers may not last the full visit. The licensed anime zones mean more to older kids and fans.
