Who we plan for

We prioritise families travelling with babies, toddlers, school-aged children and teenagers. That shapes what we cover: travel times, stroller access, luggage, bedding and room sizes, meal options for fussy eaters, age suitability and enough rest breaks. Practical detail beats generic overviews every time.

How we research

• We research important information in both English and Japanese wherever possible.
• We prioritise official Japanese sources, operators and current primary information over recycled blogs.
• We don’t present assumptions or outdated information as fact — if something can’t be confirmed, we say so or leave it out.
• Fact-bearing content records its sources and a “last checked / last verified” date.

How we label information

We’re clear about what kind of information you’re reading, and distinguish between:

• Firsthand experience — things we’ve seen or done ourselves.
• Independently researched — assessed from reliable English and Japanese sources.
• Subjective recommendations — our judgement calls, clearly framed as opinion.
• Partner-provided or sponsored — always marked as such.

How our ratings work

Family ratings (out of 5) are our independent editorial judgement — how well a place works for families (accessibility, space, ease and genuine kid appeal), not how much commission it pays. Ratings are stored separately from verified facts so the two are never confused.

How we write

Clear Australian English. Informed, calm, warm and genuinely useful. We avoid generic AI phrasing, exaggerated claims and repetitive introductions.

Corrections policy

Found something out of date or wrong? Tell us and we’ll fix it, note the change, and update the verification date. Accuracy matters more to us than looking polished.
