A genuinely overlooked, free hands-on science museum run by Tokyo's waterworks bureau, all about the science and journey of water. Excellent for younger children and a great rainy-day or budget stop near the Ariake/Big Sight cluster.
Why children love it: Big hands-on water-play exhibits — giant water tornado/bubble experiments, a 'become a water droplet' theatre, and buttons and levers everywhere. And it's free.
What children actually do: Play at the touch pool and water-purification games, watch an immersive water-cycle film, and take the 'Aqua Tour' of the working Ariake water-supply station beneath the museum.
