A brand-new (July 2025) shipping museum at ATC on Osaka Bay, built around a world-first 310° LED ship-handling simulator. Children steer a ship, work a container crane, draw a ship that appears on a giant panoramic screen and pose in a crew uniform. Being barely a year old, it has almost no English family coverage yet.
Why children love it: You actually “drive” a ship on a wrap-around screen, operate a container crane, and see your own drawing sail across a 30-metre panorama.
What children actually do: Take the ship-handling and container-crane simulators, draw a ship that appears digitally, try on a crew uniform, and explore engine and marine-transport exhibits.
Honest drawbacks: The star ship-handling simulator is a paid extra ticket (advance booking advised). An onboard tour of a Sunflower ferry appears on the price list but is only “scheduled on limited dates”, so we don’t present it as bookable.
How comfortable will an English-speaking family be?
There’s an English booking website and exhibit titles and some explanations are bilingual, but there’s no English audio guidance. English-speaking staff are not confirmed.
